Kelsey & Josh Brought Boho to the Barns!

August saw this lovely pair tie the knot in style at our beautiful barns. Their theme complimented the venue beautifully: from the neutral tones of the stunning flower arrangements to the sage green bridesmaids' dresses and table decorations. Every little detail included a personal touch. The gorgeous semi-naked cake featured a miniature version of their four-legged friend, Kelsey's veil which was special to her family and all of the guests taking to the floor to dance a routine Kelsey and her bridesmaids choreographed on her hen-do.

Georgia & Olly's September Wedding

It could not have been a more perfect day! As Royal Armed Forces officers, the couple took their first steps out of the church together through a guard of honour, provided by their fellow officers. With a larger guest list of 120, Georgia & Olly opted for the traditional long banquet tables stretching from the far end of the Old Granary, right the opposite end of Long Barn and these were styled with stunning powder blue accents and lots of candles. From the beautiful violin playing in the background, to the hilarious speeches interspersed throughout the meal, the atmosphere and vibe was so upbeat from start to finish. In traditional Forces style, the beautiful cake which was made by Olly's aunt was sliced with a sword. This was followed by their first dance which kicked off the start of a fantastic evening of dancing!

A pop of colour over the Platinum Jubilee Weekend!

This long awaited wedding had been delayed twice due to Covid and the arrival of their gorgeous son Roman-Rex, but the waiting was finally over for Rachel & Steve, and they certainly did not hold back on the celebrations! Every moment of the fun was captured by the incredible Terri Pashley and the weather was perfect for the longest weekend we can remember due to the celebrations of the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee.

As a whole, the core elements of the day remained fairly traditional but with a modern twist incorporated throughout, adding that perfect personal touch. From the flowers, to the entertainment to their unique take on a contemporary wedding cake – all of these were a first for us at Abbey Farm! Every element of the theme tied in beautifully with the 3 different barn types that make up the venue. The exposed brick in the Old Granary along with the warm lighting from the hanging bulbs, really complimented the pastel colours and the natural flowers incorporated within the displays which were set in wooden palette boxes, working beautifully with the numerous beams throughout.

Rachel made it clear from the off-set that she wanted to use as many local suppliers as possible who had worked at the venue before, so our directory of suppliers came in handy! Shirley from S&A Floral put together the most beautiful flower displays and bouquets. The porch is the perfect place for a picture-perfect display, and Rachel & Shirley put together a beautiful centre piece, consisting of pampas grass and greenery with several pops of colour from stunning feature flowers. The bouquets were bursting with a variety of flowers, all based around the pastel colour palette which was reflected in the bridesmaids dresses – all of a different shade. Abbey Farm regulars, Black Peppermint, crafted the perfect menu for the couple. Canapes were served in the garden to avoid any ‘Hangry’ guests, followed by a delicious main of roast chicken & rib-eye steak served with a selection of vegetables, perfectly completed with a trio of the couples’ favourite desserts. Aston & his team certainly had their work cut out on the entertainment side of things. From start to finish, there were numerous surprises. This started with the hidden singer, saxophonist and guitarist seated within the guests, who popped up as the couple left the ceremony – very Love Actually style! Next, one of the very clumsy ‘waiters’ crashed to the floor – you guessed it, another surprise. Within seconds, guests were on their chairs, napkins flying as they joined in singing ‘From Now On’ from the Greatest Showman. The evening entertainment was kicked off with the couple’s first dance and the dancefloor was full right until the final song. This lot knew how to party!

Rachel & Steve fulfilled everyone’s childhood fantasy and opted for a Colin & Coleen – His & Hers – Caterpillar cake. The big ‘Cut the Cake’ moment for the newly married couples had to be hurried along though, as Roman-Rex discovered the cakes a little prematurely and was on a mission to get in there first!

A wedding worth waiting for in every possible way!
